Even with the icy roads and cold temperatures, our first club meeting of the year was well attended. If you showed up at the CYCA and didn’t see us, we apologize! The key we were given didn’t work, so Sharron and Rex graciously opened Stone Soup Cafe for us. After potluck and wine, we discussed club business.
Our guest speaker, Jimmy Ogle, regaled us with tales of Memphis history which Sharon, Rex, Jim, and John embellished with more fascinating details. We had so much fun laughing and learning history, we didn’t notice it was 9 pm. If you missed it, don’t worry. Jimmy is giving two walking tours of Cooper Young in the spring. He is an encyclopedia of knowledge about all things Memphis. Look for details on the walk and be sure and sign up. You’ll never see our neighborhood with the same eyes again. Thanks, Jimmy!
Joan won the Garden Design Magazine door prize. John won 2 lunch tickets from our own Palladio Home and Garden. Thanks, J.J. for securing those for our members.
Next Cooper Young Garden Club meeting is February 21, 6 pm at CYCA unless someone wants to volunteer their house.
Next Cooper Young Garden Walk Board Committee is Feb 7, 6 pm at Kim’s House.
Stay warm and think spring.
