Even though the weather was rainy and the location unknown to most members, 18 garden club  members attended to hear Daryl Leven, owner of New Way Aquaponics,  explain how to grow plants in water.  We learned that Aquaponics is growing plants in water which are fertilized by fish droppings.  Hydroponics is growing plants in water which are fertilized by liquid nutrients. Daryl kept us enthralled as he went through each step of the process.  We peppered him with numerous questions as we  moved from room to room.

Daryl sells his produce at the Cooper-Young farmer’s market on Saturdays.  To schedule a tour of New Way Aquaponic Farm at 1319 Heistan Place, you can reach Daryl at daryl@newwayapuaponicfarm.com .

Next month’s meeting is February 19, at Marguerite’s home.  Judi Shellabarger will speak on “Native Trees”.  See you there and bring a friend.
