Colorado Spruce or Blue Spruce is an evergreen that is native to the western United States. It is planted throughout the eastern United States as an ornamental. The tree is pyramidal in form, but becomes more open and droopy as it ages. It grows slowly, reaching 30 to 50 feet in height over a 50 year period. The dark gray trunk bark is thin and flaky. The branches are a bright brown-orange and covered on all sides with stiff blue-green needles.
